There are many different causes of hair loss, some of which you will probably know by now. There are several different reasons between male hair loss and female hair loss. The hormones in a womans body can be all over the place at times with the menopause, mensturation or by taking contraceptives, and no time is it more common than after pregnancy. Hair loss after pregnancy is a common cause of hair loss in women and this is temporary only until the hormones return back to a normal state.

Causes Of Hair Loss In Androgentic Alopecia

The main cause of hair loss when it comes to androgentic alopecia is considered to be heredity.  If the same condition has been diagnosed in your family you are in turn more likely to inherit that type of hair loss.  The genetic history of the family can also give you an insight as to when hair loss may start, the speed of which hair loss occurs and the pattern of which the baldness will appear.  Unfortunately there is not much that you can do to prevent this type of hair loss.  The good news is that treatments are available for androgentic alopecia.  Some of these treatment have been effective for many people in stopping the hair loss process.  In some cases hair has completely grown back for certain patients tht use these treatments.

Temporary Hair Loss : Alopecia Areata

This particular type of hair loss can occur at any age, and can also be linked to the genetics of the family. Scientists have come to the conclusion that this type of hair loss can be set off by a virus or by environmental causes, however studies are still being done to determine the exact causes of this type of hair loss.  The loss of hair in this case is often temporary, and the hair can grow back on its own without any treatment at all.  It is frustrating however, because the hair loss process can often repeat itself a number of times, making it a very annoying and inconvenient condition.

Stress and hair loss are often also related, as the hormones in the body are going through a very hard time. The importance of good stress relief methods should be applied here, maybe yoga or therepeutic treatments such as aromatherapy have been proven to reduce stress.

Other Causes Of Hair Loss

There are many other causes of hair loss that include, illnesses, certain diets and some medications.  It is also known that pregnancy and childbirth can also be causes hair loss.  This is due to the different levels of hormones that go through a woman's body during this time.  There are also some types of hair treatments that can cause hair loss, especially if they are overdone or done incorrectly.  Another cause of hair loss can be if an infection of the scalp occurs.  When treatment for the infection has been undergone, hair loss generally stops and hair grows back.
