Procerin - Hair Loss Product Review
The discovery of a compendium of medical knowledge, dating back to approximately 3500BC, showed that men even back then were anxious for prescriptions for hair loss treatment. The prescriptions in this book passed on from generation to generation and made their way into the medical libraries of Ancient Egyptian healers. In 1553 BC The Ebers Papyrus, discovered in Luxor, Egypt, is the oldest complete medical text ever found. An amazing collection of treatments for skin diseases and cosmetic conditions, it is noted for containing the oldest known prescription for treating baldness. The prescription was a mixture of iron, red lead, onions, alabaster, and honey to be swallowed, after first reciting a magical invocation to the sun god. Then in 420BC Hippocrates formulated an anti-baldness treatment. One of his formulas was a dubious mixture of opium, horseradish, pigeon droppings, beetroot, and various spices for the scalp. An interesting mixture to say the least, but highly questionable in terms of effectivness. Hippocrates became so bald that extreme baldness became known as "Hippocratic baldness". Evidently, it didn't work that well then, and it definitely would not work in this day and age. There was one other rather extreme cure for baldness. Castration, either before or shortly after puberty prevented baldness. How he knew this was by observing eunuchs in the Persian army. As funny as that may sound, this unusual observation of Hippocrates was validated in 1995 by researchers at Duke University who came up with the same results. They did have the good sense to also note "While castration may be a cure, it is not commercially acceptable". And of course, the never ending search for hair loss cures went on. It seems there isn't much to be found on the Internet about Procerin, made by Speedwinds Nutrition Inc. It only began to show up on the Net in November of 2002. It appears they have not had any runs in with the Better Business Bureau. This hair loss supplement is a blend of herbs, vitamins and minerals formulated to block production of (dihydrotestosterone) DHT. Procerin is actually a DHT inhibitor used internally to stop hair loss and promote regrowth of new hair. At one time they did have the product Yohimbe included in their blend of herbals. The company reformulated Procerin to remove Yohimbe as it was linked to serious adverse reactions in people with high blood pressure, heart, kidney or liver disease. Pros and Cons: Pros:

Muira Puma Root: said to play significant role in energy metabolism, protein synthesis, and hair expansion for men and women. Helps with stress management, nervous system stimulation, virility, and overall health. Uva-Ursi: soothes, strengthens, tightens irritated inflamed tissues. Procerin should only be used by men, but for a proven FDA approved product that can be used by women you will want to read the Rogaine Review. Rogaine is one of two FDA approved products, the other being propecia. It is really great at maintaining the hair and preventing any more loss of hair while also promoting some hair growth. Continuation of this treatment is essential as it the hair loss can return as soon as the treatment is stopped. |
