Hair Loss Product For Men - Propecia
Propecia (and Proscar) is the generic name for Finasteride first developed and used in the 1980's by Merck pharmaceuticals as a treatment for an enlarged prostate. Finasteride is also marketed as Proscar, Propecia, Fincar, Finpecia, Finax, Finast, Finara, Finalo, Prosteride, Gefina, and Finasterid IVAX. Does Propecia Work? During prostate trails, this drug showed signs of generating hair growth. Finasteride had already been FDA approved to treat enlarged prostates, so the drug company just switched gears a tad and developed Finasteride as the first pill to treat male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia). Merck asserts that Propecia Hair Loss Treatment is the first drug in history to effectively treat male pattern baldness on the crown area and the hairline. This drug can not be used by women. Propecia and Rogaine seem to work well together. The only way to retard hair loss is to lower DHT levels. Propecia's 1 mg, one pill a day dose, can lower DHT levels by as much as 60%. By reducing DHT with drugs, protection from the effects of estrogen (for males) may also be reduced – resulting in gynecomastia - the development of abnormally large mammary glands resulting in breast enlargement. Propecia side effects include reduced libido, difficulty achieving an erection, a possible decrease in the amount of semen ejaculated, and depression. Finasteride is highly dangerous for pregnant women, and this includes the dust of crumbs of broken pills and can cause birth defects in a male fetus. Ingredients in Propecia: Ingredients in Proscar: Another product that is FDA approved is Minoxidil, it's retail name is Rogaine or Regaine in the UK. It is proven effective for the teratment of hair loss and it has had rave reviews. It comes in an extra strength solution or a regular strength solution, either are great. Read more on Rogaine
