Hair Loss Product For Men - Rogaine/Regaine
In 1988, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Rogaine for the treatment of hereditary male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia). It can also be used for Telogen Effluvium – a temporary condition due to sudden medication changes, life and hormonal changes. This is effective in the crown or top of the head, but not the frontal area. Rogaine/Minoxidil retards the loss of hair in areas with minimal hair. It does not grow hair on completely bald scalp. Results may be seen with this product in about 6 to 12 months. Women may benefit from this drug if their hair loss is characterized by diffuse thinning. The 2% solution is approved for female pattern hair loss. The 5% concentration is usually for male pattern baldness. Hair restoration surgeons recommend patients use Rogaine before and immediately after surgery, particularly if grafts have been placed in and around existing hair. Rogaine may help prevent temporary loss of healthy, pre-existing hair due to the shock of the hair transplant procedure. Rogaine is applied twice a day, once in the morning, after you have dried your hair and scalp, and the again in the evening, an hour or two before you go to bed. Wash your hands after using this, and make sure it dries on your scalp completely. Rogaine's effectiveness does diminish over time. Patients can build up a tolerance to it after many years of use. Side effects include: acne on the area it is being used, headaches and/or lightheadedness, very low blood pressure, irregular or fast heartbeat, blurred vision, chest pain.
Rogaine Extra Strength comes in a 5% Topical solution and is for men who have a general thinning of the hair. It is not a product intended to treat frontal baldness or receeding hairline, it is most effective for use on the crown. It is advised that men with thinning hair should apply two 1ml applications per day. The liquid should be spread evenly over the parted area of were the hair loss has occured. It is important that you continue treatment as hair loss may come back. More Info on Rogaine Extra Strength Ingredients in Rogaine Extra Strength for Men:
Rogaine Foam is the only FDA approved hair loss regrowth foam, it contains the 5% solution of minoxodil which is why it is not available for women. It is easy to apply and dries a lot faster than the topical solutions, so it is a more convenient treatment for people on the go. Hair gels or hairsprays can be used as normal which is great but the rogaine must dry before and styling products are used on the hair. The application is straightforward, all you have to do is dispense the foam into the fingers, about half a capful then massage gently into the scalp area were the hair loss is occuring. Make sure your fingers are cold as the foam can dissolve on warm skin, so just simply run your fingers under cold water and that should do the trick.
